Falling ceilings, labor& delivery tours, and roast beast

Today has been kind of eventful. While putting boxes in the attic after unpacking pictures I was folding laundry in the bedroom. When all of a sudden I hear a crash! I knew Matt was still in the garage and was completely frightened that he was still in the attic. So I ran to the garage and see a huge piece of the ceiling on the ground, dirt, dust, and drywall pieces all over the car, and my husbands leg hanging from the ceiling! Freaking out much!!!!! Turns out Matt was exploring the attic and took a wrong step and the whole chunk of ceiling under his foot fell. Luckily he did not fall and did not get hurt. (Our car is OK too)
After cleaning up a bit, letting Matt relax from his trauma, and finishing the laundry we decided to head out. We got some lunch at Wendy's where OF COURSE they got my order wrong and my already diminished appetite almost went away. We then headed off to the hospital to get a "tour" of the labor and delivery area. The rooms look pretty nice and they are huge. Our next step, if I can get Matt off the couch (football are you over yet?) is to actually get some pictures/shelves hung up and then for dinner I have a roast beast in the crockpot. It smells so YUMMY!  Almost like being at my parents on a Sunday.

More fun baby stuff!

I have been waiting for days and finally today it came! Will's handmade afgan from Grandma Smith! It is so cute and she worked so hard on it.

In our birthing class we have talked about being prepared for D day and so we have started putting together some stuff for the bag. We picked out the cutest outfit to bring Will home in have the car seat in the car and ready to go! Now we just need to baby. Hopefully not for a couple more weeks!

Week 36!

We have started the down hill slope. I am officially 9 months pregnant and about 4 days away from being considered full term and ready to pop at any time! :) We are so excited to meet our little guy! The other day I was thinking that it would be so cool if we had windows in our tummies so we could see what our babies looked like, kind of like that cow in Iowa or somewhere that has a hole in him so that people can study how corn affects animals. :) Kinda gross but I am probably one of the most impatient people I know and it is killing me to have to wait for the baby to come.
We purchased a stroller yesterday and put it together. Luckily Matt did not have to get inside it to put the wheels on. HA HA. It matches the car seat and is super light. It will be wonderful when our families come to visit and to go on walks after a couple of months.
Another kind of cool thing is that lately we have been able to see Will more. At night I will be sitting down and notice that my stomach is lopsided. :) Most of the time it is just his butt, however occasionally it is bigger so we are assuming it is his back. Our birthing coach told us that if Matt puts his ear to my stomach he might be able to hear Will's heartbeat. So we tried it and Matt said he heard something faintly. :)
Not much else is going on in our lives right now. Just work and baby. :) We are still struggling with our doctor a bit but I am hoping that on the day of he will either not be around or things will go as planned and we won't have to deal with him until I am well into my labor and showing him that all is not horrible as he acts like it will be. :)

Emotional!

The past couple of days I have learned what the people have always said about pregnant women being emotional. I seem to cry at the smallest things these days. Luckily it is usually when Matt is not home. LOL
On a brighter note... We went to the doctor on Monday and found out that Will's kidney issue is no longer an issue! He is doing wonderful! The ultrasound tech said that his lungs are looking great and that he looks big and healthy. Big being the scary word... She thinks he is almost 7 lbs and we still have a month to go! Yikes. The doctor says that the ultrasound can be off by a pound or two so hopefully Will is not that big but I guess we will see!
Things here is TN are going well. The past couple of days it has gotten a lot cooler and has rained a lot. The only bad thing about rain here is it is usually accompanied by fog in the morning. Good thing Matt is a safe driver! That's about all that is going on here, not much to tall this week! :)

The engineers that set up the streets here are crazy!

OK it is time to say one good thing about Utah. I know, don't be shocked! So let me just tell you that whoever built up the streets in this place has lost their mind! Almost every street here has more than one name. Do you know how hard it is to find your way around when the streets will randomly change names! To give you several examples... One of the main roads from the freeway is called Wilma Rudolph at the freeway and for about 2-3 miles down the road. Then it changes to Guthrie Highway and then when you get closer to the University it changes to College St. What the heck! Another example... there is a highway type of road that is called 101st Airborne, then a couple miles from our house it changes to Warfield and a couple miles after that it changes to Richview or something like that. And the final example of THE most retarded road is... To get to the hospital from our house you have to turn onto a road called Dunlop Ln, as you are traveling down this road (maybe a mile) it curves and you see a road off to the side that makes a 90 degree turn off Dunlop Ln that is also called Dunlop Ln. If you continue doing straight down the first Dunlop Ln it will T you then can make another 90 degree turn so get to the actual Dunlop Ln that the Hospital is on. Seriously!!!!
I don't understand why this place cannot use the simple and easy to follow grid system that Utah has, does this not make much more sense??? Perhaps my friends from CA or KS can help me understand this craziness. :)
OK I am done venting now. :)

5 more weeks!

Today marks the first day of week 35! It's hard to imagine that the pregnancy is almost over, time definitely has flown by. However, I am soo ready to be done. The past couple of days have been especially hard as I feel way tired and uncomfortable. Hopefully this last month won't be like this all the time!
We have another ultrasound on Monday to check on the baby's kidney's one more time. Our new doctor here wants a high-definition ultrasound so that they can get better measurements of Will's ureters to determine if they are still swollen and if so how much. Unfortunately, there isn't anything we can do, but I guess he just wants to know what the pediatrician will have to monitor after the baby is born. As of last Monday the ultrasound estimated that the baby is 5 pounds, which according to the books is where he is supposed to be. Starting this week he should be up to 6 pounds. One thing I have been worried about is that I am no longer gaining weight. Since living in TN I have not gained any weight. I am not sure if this is something I really need to be concerned with but I am going to check with the doctor. One reason might just be that I am watching my diet a lot more carefully and trying to make sure I meet all the requirements for higher protein and lower carbs. So maybe I will be skinnier after the baby is born that I was before I got pregnant! Wouldn't that be lovely. HA HA (Anybody else want to live in my dream world???)
We have started birth classes with a lady named Jade. She is very nice and fortunately we are the only couple in her class on Tuesdays so she is able to give us more one on one training! Hopefully meeting with Jade will help us feel more prepared to take on labor. Just thinking about it kinda scares the crap out of me, but hopefully when it happens Matt and I will be able to remember what we are learning and make it through as planned.
The doctor kinda scared us the other day at the appointment because we thought we heard him say that the new ultrasound moved our delivery date from Nov 18th to Nov 5th. He kinda just said it in passing so we are not sure if we heard him correctly or not. We will definitely be getting that straightened out on Monday!
In other news, we are planning on closing on the house in the next couple of weeks which will mean that we can FINALLY get pictures hung up and make the place more complete. We feel very lucky to have had things work out like they have and are looking forward to the next step in our lives. :)

Will's room finally has some decoration!

Last night Matt put up some shelves and other decorations on Will's wall. :) It still isn't quite finished but it's getting there. I wish we could paint the room because the previous owners totally botched the job, but eventually we will get to that. :) It's nice to have to room feel a little more complete. The blue and white shelf needs some repair from the move and when it is done it will look tons cuter! I am also especially happy that I have something from my grandma to represent for Will. Unfortunately, he will not meet her and so to have something of hers that I can give him is very special to me. The figurine on the blue and white shelf was hers. :)

Soon I will also be able to fill out more of the cute baby book on this shelf. :) We are so excited to meet this little guy and hopefully he will love his new home when he is born!

Does Matt have to climb in the product to put it together?

Matt decided to put together the bouncy seat last night. It was pretty funny because he started out reading the directions and following them. Then apparently he decided to stop following the directions he read. SO SHOCKING!!! :) Unfortunately, for him, this meant that one piece was twisted and he had to take apart another piece to fix it. The funniest part is that Matt had to bouncy seat frame wrapped around his body to do this. I'm starting to wonder if he always has to climb in the product to put it together. First the crib and now the bouncy seat. What happens when he puts a dresser or something together? :) It reminds me of that episode of Friends where they were in England and Joey had to climb into his 3D map in order to figure out where he was. :) Fortunately, he got it all fixed and now Will will have a wonderful little seat to be in. It vibrates and rocks and plays music and "white noise" for him. How exciting!

We have rugs!

I am so excited to announce that we were finally able to purchase some rugs. We still need one for our bedroom, Will's room, and eventually the office/guest room. However, the living room and hallway are good to go! We found them at Walmart, so they are probably not super great quality, but they work. Eventually I would probably like a bigger one for the living room but that will probably be a couple years down the road. The hallway rug has the same design as the living room and hopefully they will help with some of the issues I have been having. :)

Unfortunately, we are having a very hard time finding a dresser for Will's room. I have found one that I really like at a local furniture store, but OF COURSE it is the wrong color. You have no idea how hard it was for me to convince Matt that the dresser cannot be a light wood while the crib/bed Will will have for several years is dark cherry mohagony. I still don't think I convinced him but he is leaving it alone for now. :) Tomorrow we plan on hanging shelves and things in Will's room so hopefully it will feel more ready for him. I have been having a really hard time because I don't feel like we are ready for the baby. There are still several things that we need and I feel like I need them all now. I just have to keep reminding myself that we have several weeks and it will be OK if his room does not look or feel the way I want it to right this second. That is very hard for me!
Overall, things are moving forward slowly but surely. :)

Decoration time!

I am so excited to finally have a nursery for our little guy. Now the trouble is decorating it. :) Unfortunately, we do not have the time, or money, to paint the room. So for now we are just working on things we can add to the room. We purchased a "W" at Babies-r-us and decided to paint it green and yellow to bring out some of the colors of the bedding we got. Matt also found some really cute aviation wood things to go with it! After some help from friends and family on Facebook we decided to put the W on the wall above Will's crib and we will put the airplane and helicopter on either side. Here are some pics... (the only pics I have of the airplane and helicopter make it look like it is on the W but it will not be).

We also have a shelf that Papa Smith made that we are going to hang up and put pictures and the below wooden helicopters on. Hopefully more will come! I have a rug picked out that I want to buy also. :)

Week End review!

Matt's mom made these beautiful quilts. We got them in the mail today and are so excited for Will to see them.

So nothing super exciting has happened this week. The kitties are settling in nicely. :) I was finally able to get in to see a nurse at the OB and will be seeing the doctor on Monday. However, it seems that Will is doing great and I am doing a good job, most days, at keeping my blood sugar in check. We started birthing classes with a lady named Jade. She seems really nice and is going to help up prepare for birth using the natural method called The Bradley Method. I really hope that I can do it! Aubrey has been a trooper and has been able to delivery all but one of her babies without pain meds, and the only reason the last one was different is because she was in labor for basically 2 months and was exhausted. So I figure if my sweet sister can be strong then I can!
My friend, Amber, had her baby the other day and my other friend, Stephanie, is in labor today. I can't wait to see their pictures and hear how their deliveries went.
I feel that my belly is getting bigger and bigger. It is getting difficult to bend over, which makes sweeping the wood floors kinda difficult! I guess I will have to try a vacuum or leave piles for Matt to pick up when he gets home. :) According to my weight at the doctor office I have actually lost 4 pounds from the beginning of September so who knows! Hopefully that means that after Will is born I will be able to get in shape faster!
