I'm a lean mean green bean!

Now that Will is 5 months I decided that we would try other solid foods. He is doing really well with rice cereal and I am super anxious to be done with nursing. The first time we tried green beans. He was not really a fan. :) He kept making a sour puss face and even acted like he was going to gag a couple of times. Matt and I think it was just because he didn't know what to do with it. I made the beans myself- well that is I cooked and pureed them. :) I think when I do the next bunch I need to puree a bit more, but I am excited that I can make my own baby food. I should save some pennies. :)
Here is a picture of the first green bean experience...

It was pretty funny because he kept tapping his hand on the tray. It was like he was tapping out of a wrestling match. :)
Matt calls this picture "No more green beans, Mom!"

This is Will's way of preparing for lunch. :)
So the pretty great news is that on his second try at green beans he decided they were pretty good. At first he was still not impressed, but after about half of the serving he changed his mind and he ended up eating the whole thing. :) Next veggie will be carrots! I will also probably start mixing applesauce with rice cereal so that it actually has some flavor. :)

5 months old! Ain't nothing holding me back!

Will is 5 months old today. It is so crazy how time flies. He is getting so big and doing fun new things all the time. He is getting pretty good at sitting. He still loses his balance if he tries to reach too far for something, but he sat by himself for about a minute the other day! I can't wait until he can sit on his own and we can play more. I am pretty sure that he will be getting a new tooth soon. His gums don't feel hard yet, but he bites on everything and is drooling even more than usual. Plus he has all of sudden decided that sleep is not for him anymore. OH JOY!!! I am so frustrated because he was doing so well, he even slept thru the night a couple of times. However, now he wakes up a couple of times, which I guess really wouldn't be that bad except he doesn't want to go back to sleep! Normally he would get sleepy or fall asleep while eating and I could just put him in bed and then go back to bed myself. But oh no, not now! Now the minute his head hits the pillow he is WIDE awake! (And yes, I did say pillow. He is sleeping on the boppy because otherwise he rolls over in the night and cries because he doesn't want to be on his tummy!)
Anyway, here is a picture that I took today before we went on a walk. He is so darn cute!

Look Mom I have toes!

Will discovered his toes! Unfortunately that means he always has to hold them, which leads to rolling on his side, which leads to rolling onto his tummy, which leads to an upset baby. :) Oh well he is still pretty cute!

Painting, eating, and we're on the move!

We have had quite an eventful week. Will can officially roll from his back to his tummy, he is doing really good at eating rice cereal, and we have painted the living room and the kitchen.
Will has been working on rolling over for a couple of weeks and he finally did it last weekend. I have never actually seen him do it, I just see him on his back one minute and on his tummy the next. So either he is doing it or we have an invisible friend. :) Matt told me last Sunday that, while I was gone, Will was playing on the floor and he rolled over and then looked at Matt like what the crap just happened. :) The only crappy thing is that he tends to spit up when he is on his tummy. So hopefully he gets over that soon. Will has also been able to grab at a lot more things. It is so fun because he actually seems to be playing with his toys rather than just staring at them. I think he tried to kiss me yesterday also. He was grabbing at my face and he put both hands on my face and pulled his head towards mine with his mouth wide open. LOL It was so cute!
As far as eating goes he his doing well. We are taking things VERY slowly. The rice cereal box says to make 1 tbsp of rice and mix with about 3-4 tbsp of liquid. However I have only been able to get about 1 1/2 tbsp of breast milk with my stupid pump so we just add a little cereal to that, so probably 1-2 tsp. But I guess it is OK because he usually doesn't want to eat much more than that. I got a new pump today so hopefully that will help and we can work on eating more. I am hoping that within the next month he will be ready to start eating other "solid" foods.
We have also been able to start painting! I am so excited because I despise the paint job that was in this house. We have the living room and kitchen completely done. Next is the hallway and either Will's room or the hall bathroom. Here are some pics from our life. :)

Will must have gotten into the paint. :)
Matt thought Will looked like a greaser.
Yummy daddy!
