Mammoth Cave Day Trip

Matt and I decided that while we are in TN we need to make sure that we take advantage of being so close to some things that we would probably never see. So we invited some friends from Matt's work to go to Bowling Green, KY for a day trip. We went to Mammoth Cave National Park. It is the world's largest cave. :) I was kind of nervous because the tour guide gave the speech of dangers and stuff before we went down and commented that there were areas that you had to turn sideways to get through and the 150 steps of the Fireman's stairs to navigate. But we charged on! :)
At first the plan was for Matt to carry Will in the chest carrier thing, but Will was being grumpy and wanted me to hold him. Will did really good, there were a couple of times he got fussy, but it was just because he wanted to keep moving. LOL There was so much to see.
There were a couple of spots that were pretty low so I was glad to have the carrier to help me with Will so I could bend over and still have him be secure. During the fat man's misery I was a little nervous because I had to squeeze through sideways and try not to hit Will's head or scratch his legs on the rocks. The fat man's misery was about 5.5 ft tall, some places shorter and about 2 ft wide, sometimes skinnier. Luckily the narrow parts only went up to my waist or so so it wasn't too terrible. There was one spot where our friends 19 year old son did the limbo to get through because it was so low. LOL He was about Matt's height or maybe a little taller.
Here are some pics!

The walk down to the cave entrance
 Pretty scenery
 The entrance...

The camera kept showing the dust particles.
These were containers used in the 1800s
The back of Rufus' head. :)
 This is the giants coffin
Will was having a hard time with the flash because it was so dark down there.
 Mind your head...
 Fat Man's misery...
The back of Annette, Rufus, and Spencer...
 Isn't Matt's bad loverly!
James and I had to stop to look at the rocks
105 feet down to the bottom, which you can see as you are walking across the bridge... I was just glad it wasn't a bridge from Indiana Jones. :)

Just wanted to show how low it was, Matt had to crouch a bit
 James and I
Spencer going through Fat Man's misery
More Fat Man's misery... hold on Will!
Me, James, and Annette in the back crawling through the hole
Fireman's Stairs... 150 steps to get almost out of the cave. :)

Almost out... Will was happy to get out of the carrier

And we are done, almost...
After we got out of the cave, we then had to trek up the hill to get to the top. I think that was worse than the fireman's stairs, mainly because it was suddenly very humid (the cave was a nice chilly temperature) and we didn't have a leisurely pace with some stops. LOL
After the 2 mile cave trip we decided to head into Bowling Green and get some yummy Mexican food from Chuy's. It was pretty yummy! Luckily Will crashed for the 1.5 hour drive home.
Next trip we hope to go to Louisville, KY and go to Church Hill Downs and lots of other stuff.

Look Mom I'm a puppy!!

The other day Will was playing with his saucer, he usually likes it better when he is not sitting in it, and I got some really cute pictures. :)

I don't know why but he always like to chew on fabric. So anytime he can get his bib or his blanket in his mouth, he does! He, of course, heard the camera turn on so that meant that he had to come check it out.

Later that night while I was letting Will be "naked" he just looked so darn cute I had to take some more pictures. :)

We just love this little critter! He is such a cheeser for the camera and loves to check it out.
Over the past couple of days we have also been experiencing the joys of having a "mover". We had to move the kitty food to the other end of the house, protected by the gate, because Will kept thinking that he needed to play in the water, and eat the food. :P Yuck! He is also SUPER fun to change diapers. We have had to start changing him on the floor instead of the changing table because he always tries to get away. It is so fun seeing his cute little bum crawl away, but very frustrating at the same time.
It also looks like we might be getting some top teeth pretty soon. He definitely isn't as cranky, but his gums are swollen and he started drooling a ton again. He has also decided that he likes to bite! NOT FUN! He has tried to bite my knee, my fingers, and other not so fun areas. He even tried to bite Loki the other day. LOL
This last picture I look kind of atrocious but I love Will's expression. :)

Bookworm!

My sweet boy is so funny. We have a basket in our living room with books in it and Will LOVES to take them out of the basket and look at them. Today he was playing in his little corner and snuck around the back of the chair to where the books were. Next thing I knew he had all the books out of the basket and was playing with them. He is so cute!

Such a trouble maker!

So smart!

Will is so smart. :) He has started to clap his hands and he loves books. He always plays with them and when you read to him he just sits and relaxes. (Except if he is really tired, then he is too squirmy)
I was whistling to him the other day and he thought that was pretty cool also. He is very observant. His head is on the swivel all the time.
Trying out chunky food hasn't gone so well. The frozen carrots I bought don't seem to get soft enough and he won't eat them. So we bought a hand food mill which still does it chunkier than a puree, but not completely solid. I think that is better anyway he seemed to have more gas for the couple of days that I gave him chunks, so I don't think his tummy is ready for full time yet. He still likes peaches and bananas chunky but they squish easily. I also gave him a pluot (plum/apricot) the other day he seemed to like that as well. Basically he will do chunky fruit but not veggies. LOL
No new pictures right now so that will be all! :)

Battle wounds and video games

Well I suppose it was only a matter of time, considering I have a baby boy and since standing has ensued, that Will would fall and get hurt. He has fallen about 15 times in the past couple of days. Unfortunately he always falls and hits his head on the hardwood floor. :( However, yesterday and today he received his first battle wounds from said falls. Yesterday he was standing at the baby gate and trying to gain his balance while only holding on with one hand. He lost his balance and hit his head on the corner of the wall. He got a little bruise on his temple area. :(
Today was the real one though. He was playing on the bed with Matt and tried to take a dive and ran into the open cupboard on the computer desk. He now has a cut and a bruise by his eye. Poor kiddo!
You cannot see it very well in this picture, but it is under his right eye.
On another note, Will was sitting with Matt after he woke up from his morning nap, Matt was playing Plants and Zombies on his nook. Will had the cutest look on his face. He was looking at the nook very seriously. His eyebrows were furrowed, his lips were pursed, and he was very serious. :)
 Concentrating so hard. :)
He caught me taking a picture. such a cheese head.

Will's Cackle and Standing up

For lack of any other description that we can think of Will has a cackle. LOL It is this really funny laugh that he makes when he is excited, usually when going after the cat. I wish I could describe it. Every time he does it, it makes me laugh. Will is getting pretty good at crawling like a normal kid now. The only problem is that he either doesn't like the wood floor or he is just faster when army crawling because when he is trying to chase the cat he will crawl for a bit and then start army crawling as fast as he can when the cat moves. :) I would think that he was just trying to be sneaky but he always gives himself away with his "cackle".
He has also starting pulling himself up a lot. He pulls himself up on anything that he can. Sometimes he make me really nervous because he will only hold on with one hand. He is still pretty wobbly. He has also acted like he is going to stand up in the middle of a room and then realizes that there is nothing to grab onto so he sits down. I have a feeling it won't be much longer before he stands on his own, and then walking...
He has finally started to say Momma, but doesn't do it much. I am still working on Dadda. :)
Hopefully he will decide that he wants to sleep through the night soon. He seems to be going back and forth from doing pretty well with only waking up once to waking up 3 or 4 times in one hour. Grrr! I refuse to do the "cry it out" method so hopefully he will figure it out soon on his own.
Will has also started clapping. :) It is so cute. He doesn't do it a lot yet but he does do it.
That is about it in Will's life right now. Maybe soon we will have pics of someone standing!

Cool kid!

Will got a wonderful new toy yesterday. He has been trying to stand up a lot, but he cannot do it without help yet so we decided to buy him a walker toy. He can't quite use it to help him walk because he doesn't move his legs yet, but he was having fun.

 "Hey Dad check me out!"
 "Umm this thing is moving!"
I think this one was taken right after he almost fell.
I think he likes it!

I was also finally able to get a picture of his teeth. It was kind of hard to get. ha ha
I imagine he was trying to figure out what the crap I was doing.
 That's a little better
Pretty good I think.
Things around here are getting interesting. Will has started to move really fast! He has crawled like your supposed to a couple of times but mostly he still just pulls himself around. He has gotten really good at standing up when he can hold onto something, but he loses his balance easily and has hurt his head a couple of times.
We are starting to give him chunkier foods. I decided no more purees. So we just cook frozen veggies and cut them into bite size pieces. Hopefully it will go well. so far he loves peaches as much as before and he tried some peas and carrots from my fried rice the other day.
